Maro Village
Formerly a busy little fishing village the old pueblo remains as ever. As you walk the streets just off the beach you are transported back into a time gone by. There are a few delightful chirringuitos (beach bars) - some are open all year round. In addition a couple of rather nice cafes to sit and watch daily life unfold.
La Cala has been allowed to grow - but carefully. There are some delightful living areas which are occupied throughout the year, the town council have been certain to keep the heart and soul of the village alive.
There are miles of golden sands which are perfect for morning walks - the water is generally warm enough to get your feet wet right through the year with the possible exception of January to March. With dry feet you will enjoy the long hours of sunshine throughout the entire year.
Mijas Costa and in particular La Cala de Mijas has long been famous for its fine golf courses. In recent times the area immediately behind La Cala has become "Golfing Country" The gentle rolling hills lend themselves ideally to golf as many are quickly finding out.
There is every kind of activity for young and old alike. In addition to golf there is lawn bowls, tennis, great horse riding at Alegria riding stables (British managed) and of course every water sport you can think of.

The Costa del Sol Horse racing track "The Hipodromo" is just outside of La Cala and recommended as a great family outing.
